Services
Doc24 operates a technology platform through which users may access and arrange non-emergency healthcare consultations with independent Healthcare Professionals. Doc24 also offers Community Care, a subscription-based telehealth service providing eligible users with access to virtual primary healthcare consultations and related healthcare services. Unless otherwise agreed by Doc24, the Services are made available solely for personal, non-commercial use.
Community Care may be made available directly to users or through an employer or other organisation as a benefit for its employees, dependants or other eligible persons. Access to Community Care is subject to the applicable subscription plan, including any limits on the number of Consultations available during the relevant subscription period. Unused Consultations will not carry over to a subsequent subscription period unless expressly provided otherwise in the applicable subscription plan.
Community Care is not a medical scheme, hospital plan or emergency medical service. The Services are strictly limited to non-emergency healthcare consultations. Major trauma, strokes, accidents, heart attacks or any condition requiring emergency care are expressly excluded. Users requiring emergency medical services must contact an appropriate emergency service provider or healthcare facility directly.
Community Care services may include virtual primary healthcare consultations, medical assessments, healthcare advice, electronic prescriptions, medical certificates, referrals and general healthcare guidance, where clinically appropriate.
Any diagnosis, treatment, prescription, medical certificate or referral is subject to the independent professional judgment of the treating Healthcare Professional and applicable law and professional requirements. Doc24 does not guarantee that any particular diagnosis, treatment, prescription, medical certificate or referral will result from a Consultation.
Doc24 does not itself provide medical diagnosis, treatment or other healthcare services. All clinical services are provided by independent Healthcare Professionals who are not employees of Doc24 and who retain full professional and clinical responsibility for the services they provide.
Community Care membership and Consultation entitlements are personal to the eligible user and may not be transferred to or used by another person. Doc24 may reasonably verify a user's eligibility and may suspend access where the user is no longer eligible or the applicable subscription has terminated.
To access the Services, you must register for and maintain an active personal user account (“Account”) and provide accurate and complete personal information, including a valid payment method (credit or debit card). You are responsible for all activity under your Account and for maintaining its security.
You may cancel a Consultation up to 12 hours before the scheduled time without incurring a cancellation fee. Where a Consultation is not covered by Community Care, cancellation within 12 hours of the scheduled Consultation will result in a late cancellation fee of R250, which will be charged to your nominated payment method. No late cancellation fee applies to a Consultation covered by Community Care.
Charges for Services payable by you will be processed through Doc24's payment gateway using your nominated payment method. Where a Consultation is covered by your Community Care subscription or benefit, no separate consultation fee will be charged to you, unless otherwise expressly stated in the applicable subscription terms.
You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes and refrain from causing any nuisance, annoyance, or harm to Healthcare Professionals or other users.
No Medical Care or Advice by Doc24 or The Doc24 Platform
Doc24 operates the Doc24 Platform to facilitate access to and communication between users and independent Healthcare Professionals. Doc24 provides the technology, administrative and related support services necessary to facilitate Consultations but does not itself provide medical diagnosis, treatment or other clinical healthcare services.
All clinical services accessed through the Doc24 Platform, including Community Care, are provided by independent Healthcare Professionals who are appropriately registered with the applicable professional regulatory body. Healthcare Professionals are not employees of Doc24 and exercise their own independent professional and clinical judgment in providing healthcare services.
The doctor-patient relationship arising from a Consultation exists solely between you and the treating Healthcare Professional. The Healthcare Professional remains professionally and clinically responsible for the healthcare services personally provided to you, including any assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescription, medical certificate, referral or other clinical decision.
Doc24's facilitation or administration of a Consultation, including the operation of the Doc24 Platform and any appointment, billing, payment or Community Care arrangements, does not transfer responsibility for the Healthcare Professional's clinical decisions or services to Doc24.
Any medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or other clinical information provided to you during a Consultation originates from the treating Healthcare Professional and not from Doc24. Any questions or concerns regarding your diagnosis, treatment or clinical care should be directed to the treating Healthcare Professional.
Nothing contained on the Doc24 Platform which is provided by Doc24 for general informational purposes constitutes medical advice, diagnosis or treatment and should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from a qualified Healthcare Professional.
Medical Emergencies and Limitations of Virtual Consultations
In the event of a medical emergency, please refrain from utilizing the application. Instead, proceed directly to a hospital or dial the appropriate emergency number for your current location. Community Care is not an emergency medical service and must not be used for emergency or life-threatening conditions.
The Application and its Services are not intended for addressing medical emergencies or urgent situations. It is essential not to ignore or postpone seeking medical guidance based on any information provided within the Application. If you suspect you are facing an emergency, promptly contact the designated emergency number or visit a hospital without delay. It is advisable to seek emergency assistance or follow-up care whenever recommended or necessary.
Additionally, continue to consult with your primary healthcare provider as advised. Always seek guidance from a qualified healthcare professional, such as a physician, regarding any inquiries related to a medical condition. This includes decisions regarding the initiation, alteration, or cessation of any treatment or medication.
You acknowledge that virtual Consultations have inherent limitations and may not permit a Healthcare Professional to conduct a physical examination, obtain vital signs, perform diagnostic procedures or adequately assess every medical condition. A Healthcare Professional may accordingly require or recommend an in-person consultation, diagnostic testing, specialist assessment, hospital treatment or emergency care where clinically appropriate.
Doc24 does not guarantee that a diagnosis can be made or that a particular treatment or outcome can be achieved through a virtual Consultation.
